Rules Petition

The Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution Rules and Policy has filed a petition with the Florida Supreme Court to create new rules and forms relate to eldercaring coordination. The petition is styled In Re: Amendments to the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure; New Rules and Forms for Qualified and Court-Appointed Eldercaring Coordinators, and the court has assigned case number SC2024-0109. The court has announced a public comment period through May 1, 2024. Please see the publication notice for the comment filing requirements. Draft Part III, Mediation Certification and Applications Discipline, Rules for Certified and Court-Appointed Mediators

The Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution Rules and Policy (Committee) is seeking feedback on the proposed draft of the Part III, Mediation Certification and Applications Discipline, Florida Rule for Certified and Court-Appointed Mediators.  Comments can be sent to the Committee via the Dispute Resolution Center at drcmail@kmqc.net. The deadline for submitting comments is Tuesday, March 26, 2024. The draft can be found here.

Free Webinars for Mediators and Parenting Coordinators

The Dispute Resolution Center has compiled lists of complimentary educational webinars for certified mediators Free CME Guide and qualified parenting coordinators Free CPCE Guide.  These lists provide resources sufficient to fulfill both mediator and parenting coordinator continuing education requirements.  In addition, some of the offerings have been approved by The Florida Bar for CLE credits.  Reporting forms for mediators can be found at CME Reporting Form and for parenting coordinators at CPCE Reporting Form.   Questions regarding continuing education requirements can be directed to drcmail@flcourts.gov.

2023 Dispute Resolution Center Awards

On Friday, August 4, 2023, the Dispute Resolution Center hosted its 31 ^st Annual Conference virtually, including conferring its annual awards. We congratulate the following recipients:

Robin K. Davis received the Sharon Press Excellence in ADR Award for her visionary leadership, professional integrity, and unwavering devotion to the field of alternative dispute resolution.

Danni D. Hoefling received the DRC Award of Appreciation for her long standing work in alternative resolution with the courts and for her service to the Mediator Ethics Advisory Committee and Committee on ADR Rules and Policy.

The Honorable Angelica D. Zayas received the DRC Award of Appreciation for her service and contributions to the Mediator Qualification Discipline & Review Board and the Mediation Training Review Board.

Operating Procedures. 

Pursuant to rule 10.140, Rules for Certified and Court-Appointed Mediators, Operating Procedures and Authority, the Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution Rules and Policy (ADRR&P) updated Operating Procedures which are effective February 6, 2024 .  The Operating Procedures contain numerous revisions to the certification and renewal processes. Questions can be directed to DRCmail@flcourts.gov
